NEPALI DIASPORA IN SCANDINAVIA
-Prabin
Worth to mention that
Punjabi Diaspora in Canada, Chinese Diaspora in US, Phillipino Diaspora in Europe, Tamil Diaspora in UK,
African Diaspora in France, Bangladeshi diaspora in Italy are playing very
influential role in political econmy of their root countries. They have contriubted
to their homeland both by knowledge and remittance tra
nsfer. Moroccan and
Turkish Diasporas in Europe have incredibly contributed through remittance flow
to their homeland as well as showed a strong presence in foreign land. Estimated
that there are not less than ten thousand Nepalese living in Scandinavia. At
present, many Nepalese are in Denmark, followed by Sweden, Finland and Norway and probably a
very few in Iceland respectively. Unfortunately, we Nepalese are fragmented and are mostly affiliated
as political wings of Nepal. Because of these fragmentation, Nepalse community have become
weak and their contribution is less
effective neither could be able to show a presence. It is an urgent need to find
a common ground so that we could influence the betterment of Nepal by a
collective effort. Scandinavian Nepali Diaspora is a movement of Nepalese
living in Scandinavia. Diaspora doesn’t see what was the background of its
member but tries to evaluate if we can make something difference. The
difference could be made by material, academic, technical or financial support.
What makes us united? What is the common interest of Nepalese who are scattered
in Scandinavia? Doesn’t a Nepali feel hurt when his homeland is in crisis? Doesn’t
make anyone angry when our national prides are encroached, messed and interferred?
Might we be exiled or moved voluntarily, we need to build a solidarity as being
Nepalese. Our Nepali history, culture and heritage should be our values. In
context to our perpetual connections with homeland, it makes us worry if the
country undergoes deepening crisis? We want our country to be wealthy, prosperous, peaceful and is driven by fair politics. We should be
proud of ‘MOUNT EVEREST’ ‘THE LAND OF BUDDHA’ ‘THE LAND OF FULL NATURAL
BEAUTIES’ and ‘THE COUNTRY OF BRAVE WARRIORS’.
We are rich in flora and fauna. Diverse ethnicity, culture and natural
resources are our ornament. We want the beautiful country is to be driven by
democracy and be successful to attain a rapid economic growth. Being Nepali, though
we are outside for the moment, we must worry if our homeland is labelled as a
failed state. A collective greater effort is today’s urgent need.
